Four-oscillator wavetable synthesizer

HELION combines basic and wavetable sources with oscillator sync, FM, phase modulation and ring modulation. Independent source routing feeds two filters, with drive and compression before and after shaping.

Four oscillator layers

Set tuning, phase, unison, stereo width and wavetable position separately for each oscillator. A separate sub and noise source complete the source mix.

Wavetable editing

Edit user wavetable frames and move through them with position modulation. Warp modes include bend, pulse-width shaping, asymmetry and folding.

Modulation and routing

Three envelopes, three LFOs, four macros and a 16-slot matrix connect performance controls to synthesis parameters. Route oscillator outputs to Filter A, Filter B, both or directly.

Working with HELION

Begin with one oscillator and a filter. Add layers for harmonic contrast, then assign an LFO or envelope to wavetable position before introducing cross-modulation.

System requirements

Version
1.0.0
Platform
macOS 11.0 or later
Architecture
Apple silicon (arm64)
Current format
AUv2
Host
An AUv2 host running natively on Apple silicon
Plugin role
Instrument

macOS 11.0 is the compiled minimum target. Compatibility with every host and OS combination is not established.

Use oscillator level and the output meter to balance dense unison and cross-modulated sounds.

The sub has its own routing; choose its path deliberately when using distortion.
